"Pausing" Is a Crime

The future. Something I am both excited and sorta nervous towards. Maybe it's because I have a dream in mind that I want to fulfill while also being conscious about the fact that my life will be completely different than I know it. I'm going to be staying in the same place majority of my next four years and it's not my room.

As I was writing my college essays the other day, I experienced a sense of disgust almost never before. I had my airpods in, playlist open, pen in hand, completely ready to write. The perfect Zen setup was complete and I felt at equilibrium with myself as I wrote.

Well, I did

Until I received an earful 3 minutes later.

"You've been chosen for a exclusive 80% off deal at Lowe's. Sign up now and blah blah blah."

I felt betrayed. How dare these capitalist demons dare to interrupt my working session with stupid advertisements?! Like, like, hello??? I get that you've released a new lawn mower model. It's cool that your gardening hoes now have extended warranty. It's extremely nice that your golf carts are going to go on clearance (Haven't golfed in the last 3 years btw)! At the least, PLEASE don't hire the most dead-inside people who feel like they don't get payed enough to advertise this stuff to me because I think my ears have heard enough "dead" (from myself and my 150+ re-watching sessions of Train to Busan and The Walking Dead).

"Pausing" (interrupting life) is truly a crime.

And this is ultimately why I finally decided to allow Spotify to steal 2.5% of my monthly paycheck.

After this shocking incident, I realized to myself: if I don't like playing a song just for it to be "paused" in four minutes or watching a Youtube video on something important or engaging just for a commercial of Dunkin' Donuts and their introduction of mediocre bubble tea to grace me with their presence halfway through, I should not "pause" what I want to do for my future. After all, the biggest factor that "pauses" a person from finishing their homework or executing their plan A, B, or C to carry out their dream, is simply themselves.

Being a huge rock and heavy metal enthusiast, I've always dreamt of composing my own rock songs for a future band I aspire to create, only to keep delaying the process or even almost giving up when I see sliders, keys, tabs, interface features everywhere.

Like where do I start with this?

                                                             Or

How do these pieces of junk work?

Well, now that I wrote about this, I guess I have to take my own word for it (so, I'm not a hypocrite) and start ensuring that I can make the most out of my next years and more, outside this completely familiar area.

So goodbye, I have some Digital Audio Workstations and Synthesizers I've ought to learn.
